Astrology to Look Forward to in 2024, Part 1: Pluto in Aquarius
A hopeful antidote to doomy astrology
In this new series, we’re looking at potentially joyful stuff to look forward to in 2024. There are pros and cons to every planetary alignment, and if y’all are at all familiar with my work, I’m big on the “this could be great, but let’s keep [x] and [x] in mind too;” I like to keep it grounded and realistic. But here in this series, we’re gonna keep it fairly light.
In this article, you’ll find:
☆ Info on Pluto in Aquarius as well as Pluto in Capricorn
☆ Key dates for Pluto in Capricorn and Pluto in Aquarius
☆ A breakdown of some of the most exciting, glittering themes of Pluto in Aquarius
Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008, coinciding closely with the dawn of the Great Recession. This has been a time of stripping our systems to the bone; we have endlessly sharpened our beaks to tear the demonic-Barbie-esque cyberskin from the no-longer-secretly rotting corpse of The System™, looking for the truth behind every curtain and the corruption under all the many different flavors of our society’s candied veneer. This period has brought with it all kinds of exposing movements, deepening of economic and political divisions, and a general sense of doom (tbh).
On a personal level, this transit has been felt most poignantly by cardinal signs (Capricorn, Aries, Cancer, Libra), but it’s been felt somewhere in all of our lives. After 16 years of Pluto in Capricorn (it’ll be closer to 17 by the time it’s over for good!), life is going to feel wildly different without it.
It’s strange to think that so many of us have never done many things in life without this transit. Some Virgo ascendants & Cancer ascendants have never dated without this transit in their relationship houses, the 5th and 7th houses, respectively. Some Libras have never lived on their own without Pluto in their “home” house, the 4th house. Some Aries ascendants and Leo ascendants have never had a job without Pluto in their “work” houses, the 10th house and 6th house. Etc, etc, etc! So what will life be like without this transit for any of us, and for all of us?
Before we get deep into the marrow, some important info:
☆ What does Pluto represent in astrology?
Pluto is an intensifier, the quintessential Tower, an expander, a viral mess, a force that magnifies and consumes and destroys and rebirths. It’s a snake shedding its skin, an earthquake that exposes toxic mold behind the walls, a pandemic that changes many of us forever. It also represents transformation, fear, the dire need for revolution, and so much more.
Above all else, Pluto’s goal is to get us to face the truth — to really stare into those glowing eyes in the dark without looking away — and allow it to change us. Pluto wants truth above all else. It will make important truths associated with the sign it’s in bigger and bigger and take these things to greater and greater extremes until we are forced to face the reality, burn down what has simply got to go, and start anew. Scrape out the wound and allow it to fully heal, at long last.
