The modern world approaches astrology like it does most things: from a pretty individualistic perspective. Your chart is all about you and different areas of your life, so your transits are too. But a person’s birth chart also represents all of the other people in their life. By looking at your natal chart from this perspective, you can often even see what’s going on in the lives of the people around you and make general predictions about their lives just by looking at your transits. It’s really cool.
The most obvious example is the 7th house. The 7th house is typically talked about as The House of Relationships. This is true, but I prefer to call it The House of Other People more generally. And it isn’t only your relationships with other people, but other people themselves.
For example, if you have Saturn transiting your 7th house (Virgo risings are going through this transit right now, and Libra risings will experience this transit beginning next May), the obvious interpretations include things like potential difficulties in relationships, committing to a relationship, ending a relationship, figuring out what you need and want from other people, etc.; this can indeed be a make-or-break transit for relationships. However, Saturn transiting the 7th house also says that other people in your life are likely to be struggling or slowly solidifying something during this time. And this isn’t just your romantic partner, but other people in your life in general – friends, family, coworkers, boss, partner, anyone that you have some kind of relationship with. When we see Saturn going through a person’s 7th house, we know that some of the people close to them are probably struggling, leveling up, or really buckling down and taking life more seriously (or even being forced to).
This same logic can be applied to almost every house in the chart. Almost every house in the chart is associated with different people in our lives.
Let’s stick with the example of Saturn transits as we go through the different people that may be “impacted” by transits to each house of your chart. The house that Saturn is transiting in a person’s chart is where they will be working hard, solidifying something, building and repairing foundations, struggling, feeling fearful or lonely, paring down, committing to something (or someone), building something up, and experiencing an increase in responsibility.
