In the last few weeks it feels like there has been a shift in our collective mood and attitude (especially here in the US, but not only here), stimulated by a number of shocks one after another: the shock of the late-June and early-July elections in France and the UK in which the left took back power, the shock of Trump’s near-assassination as Mars and Uranus conjoined atop his midheaven & square his ascendant-Mars conjunction, the “shock” Biden dropping out the presidential race amidst a shitshow of other transits, and Kamala Harris being handed the torch while the full moon squared her sun and moon.
Whether he was pressured or not, it was genuinely touching to see a political leader step back and put the fate of the country before the bratty cry of one man’s ego. Seeing that made me feel a gentle sense of comfort or hope, that all is not lost. It’s also been reassuring and honestly surprising to see Kamala Harris receive such a significant outpouring of support too – it seems like many people are feeling little bits of cautious hope for the first time in a very long time, and that is good to see. I’m not yet sure what I think, but it’s pleasant to simply see a candidate who can form a coherent sentence without it devolving into the deranged ranting and raving of a fanatical maniac and without seeming confused and lost. That alone is something we haven't seen in a long time.
This is our first Leo season with Pluto in Aquarius, and as it turns out, there is still light out there. The sun has not yet permanently set. Leo season, the season of the Sun, is still here and regardless of how frivolous or silly it may seem there is still hope, brightness, lightness and excitement in Pluto in Aquarius’ wasteland. Leo is stereotyped as a kind of golden, gaudy fool; the attention whore; the loud, bold, confident egomaniac. This isn’t really core to the Leo archetype. Before it is anything else, Leo is an illuminator and an animal. Pluto in Aquarius' future may be a seeming-infinite magnifying of darkness or apocalyptic fears (or realities), but the sun Leo challenges it. Leo laughs in the face of danger (ha ha ha ha) and brings the light in spite of it all. Side note: I can’t wait to see what the rest of Leo season holds for us, especially considering the astrology surrounding the DNC at the tail end of Leo season. (Is that something y’all would be interested in hearing about here?)
