“The muffled thunder of dialogue comes through the walls, then a chorus of laughter. Then more thunder. Most of the laugh tracks on television were recorded in the early 1950s. These days, most of the people you hear laughing are dead.

The stomp and stomp and stomp of a drum comes down through the ceiling. The rhythm changes. Maybe the beat crowds together, faster, or it spreads out, slower, but it doesn’t stop.

Up through the floor, someone’s barking the words to a song. These people who need their television or stereo or radio playing all the time. These people so scared of silence. These are my neighbors. These sound-oholics. These quiet-ophobics.

Laughter of the dead comes through every wall.

These days, this is what passes for home sweet home.

This siege of noise.”

— Chuck Palahniuk, Lullaby,
published in 2002 while Saturn + north node were in Gemini

For the first time since the 1940s, Uranus has entered Gemini.

Over the next eight years we can hope to see changes to the way that we all go about seeking facts and truth, listening to opposing perspectives, and approaching life with a true sense of curiosity rather than assumption or judgment. Our relationship to change itself will be evolving too, as we adapt to the fluid, rapidly fluctuating nature of human life.

Uranus in Gemini dates:

☆ July 7th, 2025 at 3:46 am ET: Uranus enters Gemini for the first time

☆ November 7th, 2025 at 9:22 pm ET: Uranus retrogrades back into Taurus

☆ April 25th, 2025 at 8:50 pm ET: Uranus re-enters Gemini

☆ August 3rd, 2032 at 2:21 pm ET: Uranus enters Cancer for the first time

☆ December 12th, 2032 at 1:21 am ET: Uranus retrogrades back into Gemini

☆ May 22nd, 2033 at 9:15 am ET: Uranus enters Cancer, concluding its time in Gemini

To be Uranian is to know oneself truly and live in accordance with that self, to strive for freedom from expectations, to question and critique that which is considered normal, to allow inspiration to flow to you like lightning to the rod, and to live several steps ahead of the world at large, like a Cassandra who doesn’t quite realize the power of her intelligence and is made to feel like she, the psychic and the genius, is the idiot. Through Uranus we free ourselves from the shackles of compulsory adherence to cultural expectations, social norms, and habit. This doesn’t mean rejecting for the sake of rejecting, but rejecting when something is or has gone beyond the bounds of resonance and good sense. This is done by interrogating the things taken as second nature. We ask ourselves why we are or do or want the things that we are or do or want. We ask what we would be or do or want if we lived in an entirely different world. Questions that encourage one to think outside the box are good tools for any Uranian, and any Uranus transit… and even more so a Uranus in Gemini transit.

Uranus is not interested in the predictable, the routine, the mundane or the past. Through Uranus transits, we evolve in different directions. Like most things, this can be positive (like expanding freedoms for all) or negative (like expanding the freedoms of people who rule with a malevolent hand). Uranus is associated with genius, insight, change, instability, unpredictability, r/evolution, dysregulation, chaos/the disruption of patterns, epiphanies, innovation, and more. It feels electric, inspired, and unorthodox. The unorthodox nature of the Uranian is baffling to those who live by convention in the way that, as Alejandro Jodorowsky put it, “birds born in a cage think flying is an illness.” On a personal level, the goal of Uranus is always to restore authenticity. Uranus also signifies stressful and destabilizing change, shocking news, technological development, and future-focus.

I find the nature of Uranus to be, in some ways, quite similar to the nature of Gemini. Both contain a strong, irrevocable current of electricity that can scarcely find its way into the box of language or any other box and both exist in a state of near-constant change. The archetypes of both are reminiscent of pollination and the creatures who facilitate it, fireflies and other bioluminescent creatures, the nervous system, and, to an extent, science. While Uranus is in Gemini we will most certainly see the negative parts of Uranus and Gemini both, but we will also have the opportunity to truly innovate and evolve as individuals and as a species.

Through Uranus in Gemini, we will be evolving in new directions individually and as a world. A successful Uranus in Gemini transit means evolving into a world of people who can see beyond the binary (any binary), who consider different perspectives and ask questions that challenge our own & others’ outlooks, who communicate effectively, and who accept and embrace duality and paradox and prioritize depolarization politically, socially, and, most importantly, in our own minds. Those who define themselves by their willingness to reject that which is considered status quo at the moment will want to question this part of themselves too: how much of your willingness to reject the mainstream is rooted in an egoic desire to feel special? What actually makes you special? Who were you before the outside world convinced you of who you are?

Which signs will feel Uranus in Gemini most?

☆ Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces are likely to feel this transit the most, because Uranus will be making hard aspects to their placements, especially if they’re personal planets or angles. A hard aspect just means that Uranus’ influence will be potent. You’ll feel it most when Uranus gets within a 3º orb of an exact aspect to a natal planet. For example, if you have your moon at 10º Pisces, you’ll feel Uranus in Gemini’s influence on your moon most from the time it’s passing through 7º–13º Gemini.

☆ Anyone who goes through a Gemini profection year during the time that Uranus is in Gemini.

☆ Anyone who was born while Uranus was in Sagittarius. Uranus in Gemini is your Uranus opposition. This is often a time of change in a person’s life, a phase of profound evolution as you contend with the reality of aging. For those who are feeling dissatisfied with their choices so far, particularly if you have not been true to your real self or haven’t been able to, this is when you’ll be course-correcting. Those who are content with their choices and are living with as much authenticity as possible will still experience Uranian changes and shake-ups but they may be less intense. For more on the Uranus opposite Uranus transit, check out this article.

This all being said, even if none of these points apply to you, you will still feel Uranus in Gemini. It may just be less intense. Wherever Gemini is in your chart is where you will feel more Uranian over the next eight years. Look at the house where Gemini lives in your chart for more on what area of your life is going through change and a bit of a revolution. Find your rising sign on the wheel below for some insight into what area of life Uranus will be shaking up. There are also quick horoscopes at the end of this article.

Through Uranus in Gemini we are evolving into a world full of people who can hold two seemingly conflicting truths at once. This is a crucial skill to develop for anyone at any time in history, but perhaps particularly now while Pluto is in Aquarius and Neptune is in Aries. Neptune in Aries can be quite polarizing and rich in conflict, and among other things, Pluto in Aquarius signifies a collective tendency toward feelings of apocalyptic doom. Under Pluto in Aquarius the darkness becomes so magnified, so unignorable, that those who haven’t yet mastered the ability to withstand awareness of this level of darkness (and even some of those who think we have 😉) may really struggle. It’s difficult for most of us to fathom joy, hope, or personal ambition when faced with a world so utterly disastrous.

Gemini is a sign of paradox. The Gemini wisdom is that two seemingly opposing things can be true at once. Darkness, suffering, pain and death – Aquarian/Saturnian things – don’t negate their opposites. Embracing joy and life may feel like a betrayal to the darkness and the people and parts of self that are immersed in it, perhaps even irretrievably, but it is not a betrayal. It does not have to be one or the other, joy or suffering. It can be both, always, all the time. At its best, Uranus in Gemini indicates a collective evolution toward a state of bothness, toward accepting things that seem paradoxical, conflicting, or counterintuitive, toward depolarizing and embracing duality. Gemini is funny like that. It’s the devil and angel, the lover and the hater, heads and tails in a best-of-four where one could win, or none could win.

The bodily makeup of Uranus in Gemini

Gemini is a mutable air sign that is ruled by Mercury, and its symbol is the Twins. In medical astrology Gemini is associated with hands, arms, and lungs, and it’s also sometimes associated with the nervous system as well. As I wrote in my article on air signs’ connective nature, Gemini is the expression of air that experiments with leaving the confines of self and entering the space between, meeting the outside world in the middle. This is a sign of flux, intellect, communication, multiplicity and duality. Gemini resembles a playing card in the way that there is no real upright or upside down; it’s good either way.

As the diurnal domicile of Mercury, Gemini is a bridge of translation. Through Uranus in Gemini, we alter, evolve, and hopefully revolutionize the ways we translate our inner world to share it with other people, and the ways that we take in information too. Our use of language changes. The mode of communication changes or becomes streamlined. When, why and with whom we connect changes.

On Threads, @ekramibrahim wrote: “At its core, Uranus in Gemini asks us to heal the inner twin. To integrate our fragmented selves. So we stop seeking others to complete us. And instead seek others to play with us.” This is one of my favorite takes I’ve read on Uranus in Gemini. A revolution of integration, rejoining, connecting self to self. Uranus always wants to reconnect to the true self, and Gemini brings the knowledge of the many selves, the Lovers split at the hip.
