Hi, my dear sweet honeybees.
Collectively, this has been an ugly past month on top of a heavy past several years. I have recently succumbed a bit to despondency after previously having stayed afloat primarily on the feeling of seeing people actually seem to care about what is happening – a rare sight to behold, one I have lived my life in longing for and only really caught substantial sight of in the last five years. But in the last month or two, the figurative oil spill of mankind has caught fire and the flames gnaw and gnaw. The earth bleeds. Its people sit in cages or adrift somewhere unknown or underground under crumbled buildings destroyed by bombs that we involuntarily paid for or stupefied in front of the faux-black mirrors in our hands, the ones that promise insight into the hidden facts of reality and mankind and self but deliver mostly an endless hypnotic coil of horror alongside artificial words and faces and ideas.
A few months ago I started making a playlist for whoever it applies to about the experience of falling victim to the apparent hopelessness of life on earth, and moving through that hopelessness. It’s arranged as a journey that begins in a place of fear in a desolate wasteland. That feeling then becomes disillusionment with all of the trappings of modern life, and then choosing instead to find small, delicate joys in things like love and drifting through the now as a sort of sad romantic, miserable or not. There isn’t a happy ending, but there is acceptance and honey, I guess. Crafting it felt like giving 20-year-old me a platform to speak to the world from, like a time traveler. She would love that. This month hosts some really significant astrology — namely, Uranus’ debut in Gemini. This brings us into a new era of evolution as we change our relationship to the archetype of Gemini – duality, communication, sense-making, the transmission of information, union and conflict and play between opposites, bridges built between us, and so on. This is an historically significant transit for the United States (one of several going on right now) as well.
And lastly, I have decided I will not be writing horoscopes for August. I need a break, a meadow for my mind to run like a dog unleashed. This month’s report is unchanged, and I’ll be delivering August’s monthly and weekly forecasts as normal; the only thing that will be lacking in August is the horoscopes.
