For the last nearly-17 years, we have witnessed the shadow of Capricorn: abuse of power, materialism, greed, fear of not having (and actually not having) enough, capitalism, oppressive systems and structures, systemic corruption, hierarchy, and pushing all things material to their limits. Like bloodhounds we have hunted down the ugly truth inside of the lie that there is not enough, that we must always have more, that power is only for the few and never the many, and that the beaten path is always a surefire route to take.

I took this photo when Saturn entered Capricorn in 2017

We’ve also come eyelash-to-eyelash with the spectacular beauty and power of Capricorn: raw materials, reviving what is old & giving it new life, the harvest that comes at the end of all the hard work, and rooting down into the material world, the earth, and the body. Pluto in Capricorn has been real; we have come to terms with what is actually, truly, here-in-the-flesh real. We have learned to work with what we have, call out the shittiest parts of our systems in the wide world and in our own lives and minds, and aim for something more. Things do not have to be the way they are, and never should have been this way to begin with. It’s been a substantial source of comfort to meet more and more people who see this too. Before Pluto in Capricorn, it was not mainstream to See. Now so many of us are here with eyes uncovered in reality, ugly as it may be.

Wherever Capricorn is in your chart is where you’ve been excavating and reshaping, experiencing spectacular highs and lows, and going through changes and massive amounts of growth. In these areas of life you have likely felt both empowered and afraid, spent time as both the good guy and the bad guy, and met your own shadow & the shadows of other people. Through these experiences you’ve integrated immutable truths about yourself, others and the world, and after 17 years of obsessive focus on this area of life you now understand the Capricorn area of your chart better than most people do. Please offer the wisdom you’ve gained about this area of life to anyone you can! That’s the way to make the most of Pluto in Aquarius anyway.

Find your rising sign on the chart above for the house Pluto in Capricorn inhabited in your chart and some of its major themes, and head over here for more on what is ending for you with Pluto in Capricorn.

Today, at 3:39 pm EST, Pluto enters Aquarius and we move into a new time (and maybe even a new world).

Just as there are for any sign, there are plenty hideous parts of the Aquarian archetype, to be sure, but Pluto’s shift into Aquarius is symbolic of the passing of a torch. The focus, power, excavation, and gradual change moves from one area of life to another, and from the boardroom to the streets. To help get you all more familiar with the Pluto in Aquarius vibe, I’ve also crafted a playlist for Pluto in Aquarius!

Mycellial Threads, by Graeme Walker, 2022

The power of this new era is in the mind, our ability to be internally still despite the winds whipping around us, our willingness to think outside the box and come together. We are developing strange new powers that come from sharing information, our concern for the future, and being okay with being a mere human being. No secret god DNA, just a big constellation of molecules animated by electricity.
